Upgrading your control arms with DELRIN bushings completely eliminates deflection under load and significantly reduces rotational resistance. This enhancement enables the suspension to respond more quickly and consistently, without adding to the spring rate, which is a common issue with bonded rubber bushings that resist rotation.

The A3 Speed DELRIN upper control arm kits deliver a substantial upgrade over the stock bonded rubber bushings. Unlike rubber, Delrin does not deflect under pressure and allows free rotation with no resistance. The aluminum cross-shafts included in the kit feature internal grease channels accessed via a user-friendly external fitting, ensuring proper lubrication. Additionally, the Delrin bushings incorporate internal flutes that retain grease, reducing wear and decreasing friction during rotation.

Materials

  • CNC machined DELRIN bushing. Delrin is the ideal choice for bushing material in high-performance applications, where zero deflection and very low friction is required. Delrin® (acetal homopolymer) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic known for its high tensile strength (), rigidity, and superior dimensional stability. It features low moisture absorption, excellent machinability, and low friction, making it an ideal metal replacement for gears, bearings, and precision parts.
  • CNC machined 7075 aluminum center shafts. For applications that require very high strength without the weight of steel, 7075 aluminum is the optimal choice. 7075 aluminum is a premier high-strength alloy containing zinc, magnesium, and copper, offering strength comparable to many steels while remaining lightweight. Key properties includeexceptional fatigue strength, high yield strength (up to 500+ MPa in T6 temper), and good machinability, making it ideal for aerospace, defense, and high-stress structural applications.
  • TYPE III Hardcoat anodizing. Hardcoat is the optimal coating process for aluminum. Hardcoat anodizing (Type III) is an electrolytic process that produces a dense, thick () aluminum oxide layer, resulting inexceptional abrasion resistance, high corrosion resistance, and dielectric properties. It offers a "file hard" surface (nearly diamond hardness) that improves wear resistance on aluminum components, often allowing them to replace heavier materials like steel.
